Transportation/Traffic Engineer

Department: Rhode Island
Location: Providence, RI

VHBs growing Providence, RI office is looking for a mid-level Transportation/Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation group. The selected candidate will work with a team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public, private and institutional projects within broad cross-section of markets, including municipal, state agencies, higher education, federal lands and aviation.

VHBs passionate professionals include engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with public and private clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments.

Together, we work to improve mobility, enhance communities and economic vitality, and balance development and infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Design/planning of transportation engineering and planning projects
  • Design of traffic and safety projects
  • Work with a team of professionals in a variety of transportation-related areas to develop mobility solutions which consider all users integrating Complete Street concepts within urban and suburban communities
  • Prepare traffic impact, corridor and intersection improvement studies
  • Conduct research and preparation of reports, and presenting findings and results to clients

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
  • Motivated to lead and mentor others
  • Ability to think critically and strategically

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of professional civil/transportation engineering experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD required
  • Experience with RIDOT design procedures a plus
  • Design in traffic signal design a plus
  • Synchro and HCS experience a plus
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferable
