Survey Technician

Department: NYPC-NYC
Location: New York, NY

VHB is #10 in Zweig Group’s Top 100 Hot firms! Our growing New York city team is looking for a Survey Technician to join our Land Surveying Department.

VHB’s passionate professionals include surveyors, engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with public and private clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments. Together, we work to improve mobility, enhance communities and economic vitality, and balance development and infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform survey office calculations to process field data.
  • Perform research to obtain deeds, plans, utility, and other pertinent documents for the project.
  • Perform field crew coordination to set up for all types of field surveys.
  • Perform all CAD functions relating to topographic survey, construction calculations, boundary, ALTA/NSPS, DTM creation, and As-built surveys.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to conduct tasks independently and review the work of others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with survey staff and clients.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Perform field survey duties as necessary.
  • Maintains proper care of survey equipment.
  • Documents all phases of field survey work.
  • Understands proper use of GPS, robotic instruments, laser scanners & UASs

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, Associates degree preferred and two to five years of Survey experience
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record and successful completion of a negative drug screen
