Senior Environmental Engineer/Geologist - Site Investigation & Remediation

Location: Watertown, MA

VHB's Watertown office is expanding our team of Massachusetts Licensed Site Professionals (LSPs). VHB is the second largest engineering firm in Massachusetts providing integrated engineering and natural science services to a broad array of public and private clients including: manufacturing and industrial; institutions and higher education; public sector – transit and transportation; and private sector – retail and real estate.

Because of the mature relationships VHB has in multiple client sectors within the Massachusetts marketplace, this is a unique opportunity for a motivated professional to leverage their skills, experience, and relationships to accelerate VHB’s growth in Massachusetts and southern New England. It is also an opportunity to collaborate with a team of talented professionals who possess a depth of expertise in environmental due diligence, regulatory interpretation and interaction, high resolution site characterization, conceptualization of subsurface environmental conditions, groundwater and solute transport modeling, remediation of recalcitrant contaminants, river sediment forensics, and litigation support.

  • Successfully guiding projects through the requirements of the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP)
  • Developing and maintaining trusted advisor relationships with internal and external clients
  • Providing responsive, value-added service
  • Marketing and business development
  • Maintaining a balance between profitability and business risk
  • Supporting the development of rising professionals
  • Preparing high-quality technical reports and deliverables in accordance with regulatory standards and the company’s quality goals
  • Meeting utilization targets while contributing administrative and strategic initiatives


  • BS in engineering (civil, environmental, chemical) or geology/hydrogeology (MS preferred)
  • Professional registration (PE or PG)
  • Massachusetts LSP Certification (Connecticut LEP Certification a plus)
  • Strong knowledge regarding the state of the practice for site assessment, characterization, and remediation
  • 15+ years of experience, at least 5 years providing LSP services
  • Business development expertise and an established network of potential clients
  • Active involvement in professional and business associations
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
