Part-Time Temporary Construction Inspector

Department: MA-Transportation
Location: Hyannis, MA

VHB’s Hyannis, MA office is seeking a highly qualified Senior Construction Inspector to work on a part-time temporary basis on roadway, drainage and municipal utility based construction projects. 

VHB’s passionate professionals include engineers, scientists, planners, designers and inspectors who partner with public and private clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments.  

Together, we work to improve the design of the built environment, mobility, enhance communities and economic vitality, and balance development and infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship. 

Responsibilities 

  • Provide assurance that the project is being constructed in accordance with approved plans 
  • Monitor compliance with all permits issued for construction activities  
  • Preparing detailed daily reports of all construction activity and meetings 
  • Shop drawing and specification review  
  • Review of pay requisitions from contractors  
  • Review of material tests results and reports     

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to grow professionally 
  • Excellent attention to detail  
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems  
  • Ability to work well in team-oriented structure 
  • MS Office Suite skills 

Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of roadway, drainage and municipal utility construction inspection experience 
  • Demonstrated record of success working on public sector projects  
  • Valid driver’s license; frequent use of candidate’s own vehicle required
