Facilities Maintenance Technician

Department: Corp-Facilities-Watertown
Location: Watertown, MA

Facilities Maintenance Technician

VHB is seeking an outgoing, energetic Facilities Maintenance Technician to join its corporate headquarters located in Watertown, MA.† The Facility Maintenance Technician will focus on routine building maintenance and facility related tasks to support the employees and visitors of its newly renovated first-class office space. This is a full-time position Monday through Friday from 8a-5p with occasional Saturday or evening hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Building Maintenance
    • Maintain the mechanical, electrical, and the appearance of the facility
    • Performs building repairs including but not limited to drywall, paint, ceiling tiles, carpet and flooring
    • Performs daily site inspections of facility and mechanical equipment to ensure proper operation.
    • Performs preventive maintenance to internal office systems and equipment as assigned
    • Sustains maintenance schedule and logs all service or maintenance performed
    • Monitors temperature controls throughout the office, records and reports deficiencies
    • Liaison to property management for HVAC and building specific issues
    • Provides a report to the facility office manager noting any problems found and resolutions
    • Manages work requests and maintains an inventory of tools and supplies required
    • Schedule and oversee the work performed by various contractors ensuring they use safe practices, do quality work and clean up their work area. Escorts contractors in critical areas when required.
  • Facility Team Customer Service Focus
    • Work cohesively with facilities and administrative team members
    • Assist and/or back-up all members of both facility and administrative teams
    • Assist with office furniture reconfigurations, furniture and office moves
    • Assist in set-up and breakdown of meetings and events including seating reconfiguration
    • Ensure all areas are clean and properly stocked with amenities
    • Coordinate AV and Facilities needs with IT
    • Assist with the ordering and preparation of food as necessary
    • Front desk coverage
    • Retrieving, sorting and distributing mail
    • Other administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Essential Skills & Experience
    • Jack of all trades with 1-2 years of building maintenance experience preferred
    • Upbeat, energetic individual willing to take on any task presented
    • Must be motivated, self-directed and team oriented, able to work independently or in a group to meet deadlines
    • Time management, organized, able to prioritize, and multi-task skills a must
    • Working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems
    • OSHA training and awareness a plus
    • Customer service focused
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, basic Excel).
    • Able to walk and stand for periods up to 6 hours
    • Able to lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 30 lbs
    • Valid driverís license a plus
