Environmental Intern

Department: NC-MAB Raleigh Operations
Location: Raleigh, NC

Environmental Intern

VHB Engineering NC, P.C. has a need for an environmental intern for its growing Environmental practice in North Carolina.

VHBs passionate professionals include engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with public and private clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments.

Together, we work to improve mobility, enhance communities and economic vitality, and balance development and infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.


  • Provide field support and documentation of data for environmental compliance projects.
  • Assist with stream, wetland, and buffer assessments, protected species assessments, and other assessments, as needed.
  • Assist with data analyses.
  • Assist with technical reporting, correspondence, notes, and memoranda.


  • Ability to work in both field and office settings, lift 40 pounds, and perform outside work in inclement weather, challenging, and sometimes threatening conditions.
  • Experience working with hand-held GPS data collectors
  • CAD or GIS skills a plus, but not required
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Organizational skills


  • Currently enrolled in either high school or college with an interest in environmental compliance services.
  • 0-2 years of professional environmental consulting experience
  • Flexibility to work with a varied work schedule and assist on an as-needed basis. There are no guarantees of minimum hours worked per week.
