Survey Crew Chief

Department: New Hampshire
Location: Bedford, NH

VHBs growing Bedford, NH office is looking for a Survey Crew Chief to join our Survey team.

VHBs passionate professionals include engineers, surveyors, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with public and private clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments.

Together, we work to improve mobility, enhance communities and economic vitality, and balance development and infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the activities of a survey crew in the performance of Boundary/ALTA survey, topographic survey, construction and post construction surveys
  • Maintain proper care of survey equipment
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements
  • Maintain documentation of all phases of survey work
  • Perform public records research
  • Use public records in execution of Boundary/ALTA survey field work

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to perform tasks independently and to assign and review work of others
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to think critically
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry
  • Motivated to lead and mentor others

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive land surveying experience
  • Associate degree in Land Surveying/Engineering or related field helpful, but not required
  • Experience with AutoCAD is helpful, but not required
  • Must have a valid drivers license and a good driving record
  • Must be able to pass DoD security screening
  • Must be willing to travel for assignments outside local area
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding architectural and engineering drawings
  • Proficiency in operation of total station with electronic data collecting capability, and operation of GPS equipment
  • Proficiency in field survey methods and techniques
